Sunset and seaweed
Bowen’s sunsets are so beautiful that they can’t but feel like gifts for the soul. In this watercolour rendering of Tunstall Bay at sunset, one is treated to a fair representation of what sunsets on Bowen look like: a glowing orange sky broken up by ragged purple clouds, and reflected in a long streak that stretches to the beach. In this painting, the sun is still able to pierce through those clouds in the remaining two minutes before disappearing for another twelve hours, its glow still caught in the sail of a solitary sailing boat. Along the shoreline, seaweed grows in abundant clusters, and the beach gives way to large rocks, trees and cliffs that are largely inaccessible. The calmness of the water combined with the setting sun are reminders of the meditative calm that washes over us in such places.
This painting is reproduced on a 1-1/2″ linen canvas and stretched onto a solid wooden frame with hanging system attached, and with the painting continued around the edges of the piece.
Prints of each painting are available on stretched canvas, poster paper or unstretched canvas. Stretched canvas prices are provided; if you would like poster paper or unstretched canvas, please contact us for a quote.
