Tree trunk in shallow water
Another of Nick’s personal favourites, this watercolour applies attention to light on water in a playful way. With the tide sufficiently out, one can access both of Tunstall Bay’s wide, sweeping coves; otherwise they are very much cut off from each other. This painting represents the time of day when one ought seriously to think about navigating those rocks before the water rises much more. The fallen tree monopolizes the foreground of this painting, with the dock off in the background. At certain angles when one looks at the ocean, one can see in equal parts sky reflections and the nuances of water movement. That is true of this painting, whose brush strokes bring out the brilliance of day light while also accounting for the shadows cast by the tree trunk in shallow, moving water.
This painting is reproduced on a 1-1/2″ linen canvas and stretched onto a solid wooden frame with hanging system attached, and with the painting continued around the edges of the piece.
Prints of each painting are available on stretched canvas, poster paper or unstretched canvas. Stretched canvas prices are provided; if you would like poster paper or unstretched canvas, please contact us for a quote.
